Fatma Said is a PhD student in the Department of Applied Linguistics and Communication at Birkbeck.  Her research interests include bilingualism, multilingualism/plurilingualism and the linguistic relativity theory and how these relate to identity. The language she specialises in is Arabic in most of its varieties- Classical Arabic (CA) or Qur'anic Arabic (QA), colloquial Arabic of the Gulf and Levant region with special interest in their grammars, history and most importantly their sociolinguistic use and status among Arabic speakers today.
