About
My primary research interest is to understand how we make sense of other people and ourselves. Using a range of behavioural, eye-tracking and brain stimulation methods my research aims to identify the cognitive architecture supporting self-other distinction within a number of socio-cognitive processes including imitation, theory of mind, empathy and perspective taking. The primary focus within this research question is whether each of these processes relies on a common ability for self-other representations, or whether there are multiple self-other distinction processes.
I am also interested in the role of culture in social cognition, in particular, I aim to investigate if contrasting views of the self (independent vs. interdependent) influence performance on socio-cognitive tasks that rely on self-other representations.
My research is supported by an ESRC Ph.D studentship.
