My current research aims to develop a cultural study of how Japanese-ness is constructed, negotiated, reinforced and deconstructed through the creative language-use of the writings of post-war female Japanese Canadian authors including Joy Kogawa, Hiromi Goto, Darcy Tamayose, Shizuye Takashima and Michelle Sagara.
