About
I hold an Analysis Studentship for 2011-2 at Birkbeck College in the University of London.
My PhD research, also undertaken at Birkbeck, focused on the possibility of interpreting second-order logic using the resources of plural quantification. I defended George Boolos' plural account of monadic second-order logic against objections in the subsequent literature, and I investigated strategies for extending a recognisably plural approach to second-order quantification to the polyadic case.
At the moment I am developing a theory of individual thought tokens as truth bearers, drawing on Russell's Multiple Relation Theory of Judgement. I am using this theory as a context for exploring questions around semantic paradoxes, logic revision, and essential indexicality. I am also thinking towards side projects in the philosophies of mathematics and religion.
