About

I teach the Introduction to International Financial Law module at PG level at Birkbeck College.

My thesis on Spinoza: Right and Intuition examines Spinoza in light of his contemporary inspirations, and hopes to reveal much of the internal logic of his system by means of a thorough interrogation of the nature of right.

A new quotation for the page:

'A student made an excuse for having missed a logical problem by saying: "It's not like I killed my father?"  Epictetus responded: "Slave, but where was your father here to be killed? What though have you done?  The only fault that could have been committed in this case - you committed it.  That's exactly what my teacher Rufus said to me when he reproached me for not having discovered an omission in a syllogism.  It's not as if I burned down the Capitol, I said to him.  And he replied to me: "Slave, in the present instant, this omission IS the Capitol!".'

- Epictetus
